The last two weeks before school have been a funny mix of being a CEO and being a mum. During the day, I can be on calls and meeting and everything that is keeping you busy, then, five minutes later, I am standing in a shop comparing school bags, checking shoes and wondering how my child has somehow grown so much since last year.
I think that one thing I liek about myself and other executives that you learn how to plan ahead. And yeah, being a mum teaches you that the plan will probably change anyway 😃
The last two weeks before school are not really about getting everything perfect. They are about getting ready for another chapter. A new school year. New teachers. New friends. New challenges. And while I am preparing my child for school, I am also preparing myself to let go a little bit more. That might be the hardest part of being a mum.
You spend years helping them grow, and then suddenly you are standing at the school gate, watching them walk away from you. As a business owner, I am used to looking forward. BUT as a mum, I am learning to slow down and enjoy what is happening right now.
The laptop can wait - the school bag cannot 🙂↕️ And neither can the little moments that I know I will miss one day.
