The entire pressure is in keeping score.
I wonder how an average human must've been thinking everyday before modern societies were formed. Was stress & pressure a thing even then? Were expectations from other humans bothering individuals? I'm not sure if we can find a reliable source to answer that question of the past, but looking at the present, scientific terms like "stress" & "pressure" have become part of our everyday vocabulary. They've become synonymous to living. I assume its prevalent in the age group of late 20s to early 40s, which i'm part of, since this is where most of us are discovering our desires & running to make them real. The challenge lies not in desiring but in fulfilling these desires that has dependence on the society in someway & SOCIETY ALWAYS KEEPS SCORE.
This Score is just numbers. Simple math. Number of assets, Number of experiences, Number of years of experience, Number of kilometres you can run, Number of degrees you hold, Number of money in your account & Number of subscriptions you hold. Numbers & Numbers. They are all plain numbers, yet, the most sophisticated to a human life, credits to the science behind them. In the journey of improving my life, I Introspect. And in that, i realized these numbers are what take away the fun out of life. Interacting with others, i see them feeling the same too.
Pressure means to "physically" put force on another object. Then how are these non-physical simple numbers doing that to us?
It's all in the mind.
