Can we please stop opening sales calls with "so tell me about your business"?
I get why people do it, it feels polite and safe. But the person on the other side has heard it ten times this month and they know you could have found most of it on their website in 5 minutes.
What i try to do now is come in with a guess. Something like - looks like most of your orders come from repeat clients, is that right or am i way off? Even if i'm wrong they correct me and suddenly we are talking about the real problem, not reading their about page back to them.
People love correcting you btw. It's the fastest way to get them talking :)
Discovery is not a questionnaire. If they feel like they are filling in a form for you, you already lost a bit of them.
