How long did you spend on your homepage? Be honest. Days? Weeks?
Most people who start an online store put almost all their energy there. The big banner, the slogan, the perfect photo. Three rounds of changes on the font.
Then after a few months you open analytics and look where people actually arrive. Very often it is not the homepage. It is a product page someone found on Google. A category page. A blog post. And more and more, a link from ChatGPT or Gemini that sends them straight to one product.
So the first thing many customers see is the page you spent ten minutes on.
One photo, a description copied from the supplier, no delivery info. No idea who you are. No reason to trust you. They close it and go back to the list.
I am not saying the homepage doesn't matter. It does. But every page is a homepage for someone.
If I could give one advice: pick your 5 most important products and make those pages really good before you touch the banner again. Real photos, your own words, sizes, delivery, returns, and a short answer to the question people always ask you.
It is boring work. Nobody shows it off. But this is the page where the sale happens.
Which page on your website gets the most visitors? Did you actually check, or do you just think it is the homepage?
