Eurostat put out the September inflation numbers yesterday. Lithuania is second highest in the EU, only Romania is above us:
Lithuania 6.1%, up from 5.6% in August,
euro area 3.8%,
Latvia 3.0%, Estonia 3.1%.
The national CPI figure from earlier this month was even higher, 6.7%. Transport up 20% on fuel, housing and utilities up almost 16%. Food is actually a bit cheaper than a year ago. Yahoo Finance had the breakdown: https://finance.yahoo.com/economy/articles/lithuanian-inflation-climbs-6-7-093319367.html
This is what I keep thinking about after the pension withdrawals. Most of that money is parked in bank accounts. Parked money at 6% inflation is not safe money. It is slowly shrinking money, and nobody had to spend a cent for that to happen.
