Two days ago I was at a conference and one person was talking on the stage.
He said something that touched me quite badly. Not because it was something completely new, but because he said out loud something I was having in my mind for a very long time.
I will try my best to explain it.
We all need resources.
Food is a resource. A home is a resource. People around us are a resource. And money is also a resource.
Money is not a bad thing.
But somehow I feel that we, especially people from Eastern Europe, have a strange relationship with money.
Maybe our parents or grandparents told us that rich people are bad. Maybe nobody said it directly, but somehow we learned that talking about money is not nice.
We don’t talk enough about how to make money. How to keep it. How to grow it. How to build a bigger network. How to find better clients. How to create something that people are happy to pay for.
Even in places where people talk about helping others, community, faith and doing good things, money can sometimes feel like a forbidden subject.
But without resources, it is very difficult to do big things.
This hit me especially hard because I am going through a strange stage of my own life.
My business failed to become what I wanted it to become.
So now I am trying something different.
I am meeting new people. Going to new places. Looking for new information. And trying to say YES to almost anything that takes me outside my comfort zone.
And I realised something else.
For several years I was working very hard to make someone else happy. To make someone else’s business successful. To help someone else make money.
But somehow I forgot to do the same thing for myself.
Maybe this was one of my biggest mistakes.
I don’t know yet.
I am still figuring it out.
But this is also why I joined PUB-lish.
I think there is something interesting happening here. A social platform being built with a real passion to help people share their knowledge, build their influence, meet others and hopefully build something bigger together.
So this is me saying hi. 👋
My small promise to myself is to write here at least once a month about what is happening in this new chapter of my life.
The good things, the bad things, the mistakes and hopefully some wins too.
And if you have already climbed some of these ladders, please don’t be shy.
Help me understand how this new game works. 🙂
