Ask a small business owner what happens when they take two weeks off.
Most of them laugh.
Then they tell you they will "keep an eye on emails". Which means they are not really taking two weeks off.
I see the same thing again and again. Quotes go out because one person remembers how to price them. Orders get chased because one person knows which supplier is always late. New staff learn by sitting next to someone and hoping.
It works. Until that person is ill, on holiday, or leaves.
A system does not have to be clever software. Most of the time it is a one page checklist that someone actually uses. How we quote. How we follow up. What happens when something goes wrong.
Write down the five jobs that only you know how to do. Then hand one of them over this month.
The goal is not to be needed less. It is to be needed for the right things.
