Nine times out of ten, the curtains aren't the problem. The way they're hung is.
Rod sitting right on top of the window frame. Panels barely wider than the glass. It makes the whole room feel shorter and smaller - and people blame the fabric.
Here's the fix I give every client:
1. Mount the rod 15-20cm above the frame. Draw the eye up, instantly taller ceilings.
2. Extend it 20-25cm past each side. The window looks wider, more light comes in.
3. Use 2 to 2.5x the window width in fabric. Anything less and it looks flat, like a flag, not a drape.
4. Let them kiss the floor. A hem floating mid-air is the fastest way to make a room look unfinished.
Same window. Same light. Completely different room.
