Small thing but it bugs me.

Small thing but it bugs me.

Google dropped the "AI Overview" label on some AI Overviews. Desktop only, on mobile the label is still there. Glenn Gabe noticed it on searches for shows and movies, Barry Schwartz wrote it up yesterday and thinks it's a bug. Could be, missing labels happened before.

But think what it means if it sticks :)

AI answer on top, looks like a normal knowledge panel, no label. People won't even know they read AI. They read it, get the answer, leave.

So the game is not "rank #1" anymore. It's "be the site the AI quotes up there".

If your website doesn't explain clearly what you do and who you help, the AI picks someone else. Label or no label.
