Meta just stopped taking TikTok's money π³
This week, in the US, Canada, Japan and four more markets, no more ads from ByteDance on Facebook or Instagram. And it's not only TikTok itself. Advertisers whose Meta campaigns link out to TikTok are caught too. Campaign has the whole story -> https://campaignlive.com/article/meta-bans-tiktok-ads-across-seven-markets/1972385
Meta's line: "We don't have to run ads from a competitor whose goal is to pull people off our apps." Fair enough, to be honest.
But think about the small brand who built the whole thing as Instagram ad -> TikTok shop -> sale. That plan broke overnight and they did nothing wrong.
The lesson I keep coming back to: you don't own the platform, you rent it. Your email list, your own website, your people -> that's the part nobody can switch off.
Anyone here running ads that point to TikTok? Curious what you're doing now π
