English is not my first language.
You can probably tell.
I run a lot of what I write through AI before I post it. Emails. Posts. Even short messages.
And it helps. A lot. Fewer mistakes, better words, sentences that actually make sense.
But I keep noticing something.
When I read the polished version, it doesn't sound like me anymore.
It sounds correct. Clean. Smooth.
And a bit like everybody else.
Because if all of us ask the same tools to fix our writing, we all end up with the same "perfect" sentences. Same rhythm. Same words. Same little phrases you can now spot from a mile away.
Perfect English is becoming cheap. Your own voice is not.
So I'm trying it a different way.
I write first. Fast, a bit messy, the way I think.
Then I ask AI only one thing: what is actually wrong here? Grammar. A word that means something else. A sentence nobody will understand.
I fix those. The rest I leave.
The strange order of words. The short lines. The "and the funny thing is..." that I probably use too much.
Maybe a native speaker would write it better.
But they would not write it like me.
And isn't that the whole point of writing something in the first place?
