So Shopify now lets people set up an AI agent that goes shopping for them. Over a billion listings, checkout right inside the chat with Shop Pay, and the buyer still has to approve every purchase. Saw it on NewsBytes on Tuesday: https://www.newsbytesapp.com/news/science/shopify-lets-ai-agents-shop-across-1-billion-listings/story
Everyone is talking about the shopper side. I care about the store side. If a bot is choosing for your customer, it doesn't see your nice banner or your hero video. It reads your product data. That's it.
So before you pay someone for a new theme, do the boring sh*t first:
Product titles that say what the thing actually is. Not "Luna 2.0" ❌
Real sizes, materials and delivery times in the description
Prices and stock that are correct today, not last month
Clear photos on a clean background
People can give the agent rules like a budget limit or only fast shipping. If your shipping info is a mess, you are simply not on the list. And nobody will even tell you.
Fix the data. The design can wait a week.
