The one human feeling that carries a lot of weight. Especially in business.
The other day, i mentioned about the app we built for a business that processed more than $150k worth of orders in the last six months. I also mentioned it took a long time from the point we sent out the project quote until the project really kicked off. This was the business lesson i learnt in that gap.
Humans in general are not inclined towards taking action. In other ways, we try to live in the moment with what we have. Thats our default state of thinking. We are hard-wired to conserve energy unless its really needed. Now, its the same humans that start businesses. Do you feel we would magically start thinking differently then?
Probably not! Our thinking usually stays the same. We are in the default state of energy conservation assessing if the situation really needs action to be taken. Thats the same that was happening with this project.
The client already had the old software working. It wasn't doing the job well, but it didn't stop the business from running. It was a pain for the employees to use but it still was bearable. Until one day, someone hacked the software & took it down.
The entire business came to a standstill. The next moment, my phone rang for help. My instant response was to see if the old software could be brought alive. It wasn't possible. We tried various ways but the earlier service provider went cold. The only option was to build the new one, quickly. The URGENCY kicked in. The problem became real. The client waited until the situation got worse & now we had little time to resolve the situation.
Thanks to my skilled team, we got them live in a week's time with the main functionality & added the remaining over next 5 weeks bringing them fully back alive. We just not built existing workflows but made them better ensuring both their internal team & the customers loved the software.
As Entrepreneurs, its really important for us to understand this feeling of URGENCY. It can hold the key to filling up your lead funnels & converting them into deals.
