Apparently, in Mesopotamia, animal hides were used to create partitions within a home. In Egypt, woven reeds & papyrus mats were used to protect from desert heat & sand. Chinese had their own similar solutions. Based on my learnings, the criteria of choice was to pick a material that could withstand the climatic conditions. This finding got me curious. I wanted to know more.
This is what i like about Entrepreneurship in general. You learn something new everyday. I thank @immerzyve for that. I turned on the Opus 4.8 model on Claude & asked it to find all the information it could from the internet to help me build the entire history timeline of Curtains. Here's what i can share from it.
For thousands of years, Curtains belonged to the wealthy. The regular homes were still bare windows. Imagine living there for a second. Then, the Industrialization age about 300 years ago slowly started to bring this expensive & luxury fabric into commoner's homes. There were inventions after inventions that made it from a nice-to-have thing in a home to a must-have. Like, i never thought someone would've actually invented the curtain rod. It was Mr. Samuel Raymond Scottron in 1892. Then, years later, someone turned that into an expandable curtain rod which shot up the business. Apparently, curtain catalogs were sent over postal mail to those who couldn't visit the shop. That gave me a brilliant idea for @immerzyve. In a way, thats what we are solving a hundred years later. Helping buyers see every option from the comfort of their home so they can choose confidently & quickly.
The inventions of colors, materials, fabrics have constantly kept changing the face of the curtains business. And then came BLINDS. They solved a problem that curtains failed to. Choices increased for the consumer. The excitement made it synonymous to every household. Fast forwarding to now, we have thousands of options to pick from with heavy competition all around.
Projections say its going to be a $44.58 billion business by 2035. I think thats still a small number knowing what this industry can do potentially do. Most other brick & mortar businesses have started gaining a portion of their revenues from the internet. I want @immerzyve to play a key part in increasing those numbers for Curtains & Blinds businesses around the world.
Who knows? @immerzyve could eventually be the next big thing in this industry! We could be the next invention like a curtain rod that changed the face of this business for the times to come.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hope it was value of your time.
