
The market has settled the question of whether biostimulants matter. Industry analysis puts the global biostimulants market at roughly $2.4 billion in 2025, growing to around $5.8 billion by 2034 at a 10.2% annual rate. The drivers are exactly the ones agriculture is being forced to confront: better soil health, more efficient use of fertiliser and water, and crops that hold up under climate stress. The category is validated. The more interesting question is what's actually being sold inside it.

Bodies like the European Biostimulants Industry Council have spent years defining and standardising these categories, which is good for the industry. But it also means a grower chasing multiple benefits often has to buy multiple products.
Each of those chemistries does something real. Seaweed extracts support stress tolerance. Humic and fulvic acids improve nutrient availability and soil structure. Amino acids feed plant metabolism. Microbial products introduce or stimulate biology. The catch is that they tend to arrive separately — a seaweed line here, a humic line there — each solving one part of the puzzle.
