
In agriculture right now, almost everything moves. Gas prices swing, sulphur goes scarce, shipping lanes close, harvests come in strong or weak, and the cost and even the availability of fertiliser lurch with every headline. Against that backdrop, we make a claim that sounds almost too simple: what is inside Humuson does not change. Every batch is identical, and no energy crisis, war or supply shock alters that. This is not a marketing line. It is a consequence of what sapropel actually is.
Consider what a conventional fertiliser really is. Natural gas makes up 80–90% of ammonia production cost, and ammonia is the base of urea and most nitrogen fertilisers — so when gas spikes, the product spikes with it, as the World Bank has documented through this year's disruptions. Phosphate depends on scarce sulphur; supply depends on open shipping lanes. These products are manufactured fresh every season from inputs that are themselves in crisis.
Biological inputs have a different but equally real problem. Seaweed extracts, compost and biomass-derived biostimulants are made from feedstocks that vary — seaweed by harvest, plant and animal material by source and season — so the product changes batch to batch, and results become hard to predict.
In both cases, the input is only as stable as the volatile world it is made from.
Here is the difference, and it is not a small one. Sapropel is a freshwater lake sediment that formed over more than ten thousand years, as organic matter decomposed without oxygen and concentrated into a uniform colloid of over 40 compounds. Its composition was not set in a factory last quarter. It was set by nature over ten millennia.
That single fact is why a crisis cannot reach into it. An energy shock cannot change what a lake concentrated before recorded history. A blockade cannot alter the chemistry of a deposit that was complete long before the shipping lane existed. We are not re-synthesising the active ingredient each season from gas or sulphur — we are extracting something nature already finished.
Because the raw material is geologically uniform, the output is too. Batch number one and batch number one hundred thousand carry the same composition, the same spec, the same performance. We do not just hope for that consistency; we guarantee it, at any volume, this year and for years ahead. For a grower or distributor, that means an input you can build a plan, a price and a season around — not one you re-test every delivery.
The stability goes beyond composition. Humuson is produced cold, under 39°C, with no heating and no CO₂ — so an energy crisis does not spike our production cost or halt our lines the way it does gas-fed ammonia plants. It is manufactured entirely within the EU, with no Russian, no Belarusian and no Hormuz-routed inputs anywhere in its chain — so blockades and sanctions do not touch our supply. And it comes from vast, naturally accumulated lake reserves — so there is no harvest ceiling and no season that fails. Composition, cost base, and supply: all three sit outside the crises that move everything else.
In a stable decade, buyers chase the lowest price. In an unstable one, they learn the harder lesson — that the cheapest input is worthless if it changes, disappears, or can't be planned around. A constant is worth more than a bargain. Humuson is that constant: the same thing, every batch, every season, whatever the world is doing. That is the same reliability logic behind our earlier piece on supply and consistency.
