When I first met this dog, his owner told me: “He just doesn’t listen.” I hear this a lot. But dogs are rarely simply “not listening”.
Sometimes they are confused. Sometimes they are overwhelmed. Sometimes they have learnt that ignoring us works. And sometimes, we are asking too much too soon.
So we went back to basics. Less pressure. More communication. Small steps. Lots of consistency. And then something changed. The dog started looking at his owner before making a decision. That tiny moment might not look like much to someone else. But for me, it was everything.
Training is not about making a dog obey every command. It is about building a relationship where your dog understands you, trusts you and wants to work with you. And honestly, sometimes the biggest change in the dog starts with a change in the human.
That is why I love what I do. Every dog has a story. And every story deserves to be understood. 🐾
