Hey, what's happening with innovations in Europe?
Simpel example: Apple has built the iPhone around one simple idea for years:
1. Apple controls the hardware.
2. Apple controls the software.
3. Apple controls the App Store.
4. Apple controls Siri.
And because they control everything, they can control the whole experience. The EU is basically saying: not anymore. Take AI - Apple has built a completely new Siri AI that can understand what is on your screen, use information from your emails, messages and photos, work across apps and become much more like the AI assistant we have all been waiting for, but Apple says this new Siri AI will not initially come to iPhones and iPads in the EU.
Why?
Because of the Digital Markets Act. The EU wants Apple to give competing assistants access to similar capabilities. In simple words, if Siri can deeply interact with your iPhone, the EU does not want Apple to keep that power only for Siri. Apple's argument is also quite interesting. They say that giving another AI deep access to messages, files, apps, purchases and personal information can create serious privacy and security risks! Which is normal from my persp,but EU's position is different.
And then there is the BATTERY.
From Feb 2027, new EU battery rules will require many products with portable batteries to make those batteries easier for users to remove and replace? What a heck..
