My friend's startup made its first BIG money today! After waiting for 3 long years!
@suneel-prasanth & his friend Srini started KamerApp.com about three years ago. They knew the problem well. Hostels in India were still running on pen & paper. They understood what was needed to solve it - a Mobile app catering to the owner needs of these hostels. They had a few connections to the people who had this problem. Everything seemed perfect on paper. What was left was just building the solution. Their initial estimate was 3 Months. It became real, but only a thousand days later. What a journey they've been through.
The challenge they went after actually seemed smaller once they realized building the app they wanted was the bigger pain. I'm sure you can relate. Building an App being the problem may seem irrelevant today with what AI is capable of. But just a few years ago, it was the biggest barrier to entry. It costed a lot. With two core members of the company unable to code yet seeing the wasted potential wasn't really helping them.
It all changed when Shiva, the third core member joined forces with them. He took on the full responsibility of getting KamerApp to where it is now. Overtime, AI played its prominence in helping speed up the progress. The result?
About a 100 hostels onboarded so far. Today, their payment wall went live. Thousands of INR in subscription fees.

History of Curtains that surprised me.
Apparently, in Mesopotamia, animal hides were used to create partitions within a home. In Egypt, woven reeds & papyrus mats were used to protect from desert heat & sand. Chinese had their own similar solutions. Based on my learnings, the criteria of choice was to pick a…
