Saturday morning, coffee, and I'm thinking about magazines again. Sorry :D
When I started, being in the right magazine was the whole game. People saw your name next to the articles they liked, and somehow you were "real". They called you already half convinced.
So where is that page today?
It's not one place anymore. Somebody asks ChatGPT "who does this near me". Somebody reads a post on their phone in a queue. Somebody watches a 2 minute video at night. Somebody googles your name ten minutes before the call and looks at whatever comes up.
All of that together is the new magazine page. And nobody sells it to you. You can't pay once and be done for the year.
You write it yourself, a little every week. Boring? A bit. But the good part is the same as 20 years ago: if they already know you, the call is easy.
Strange times. I still miss the paper though.
