I think it is forcing us to ask a better question:
What should HR actually be doing?
AI can help us write job descriptions, screen CVs, analyse employee data, answer basic questions and automate a lot of admin.
Good.
Because maybe HR was never supposed to spend most of its time doing admin.
The opportunity is much bigger.
We can spend more time understanding people.
Why someone is leaving.
Why another person is not performing.
What makes a team work.
Who has the potential to become a great leader.
Where people are struggling but are not saying it.
And how we build a workplace where good people actually want to stay.
But there is another side to this.
We need to be careful.
AI can analyse data.
It can suggest decisions.
It can save hours.
But it doesn't know what it feels like to be the person sitting across the table.
That part is still ours.
So I don't think the future of HR is:
AI vs people.
I think it is:
AI + better HR people.
The companies that get this right will not simply use AI to reduce HR costs.
They will use it to give HR more time to do the work that actually matters.
That is where I think the real opportunity is.
